- FIAU Notice: Extension of deadline for the registration on the STR Submission System – goAML

Further to the previous notice issued by the FIAU on the 24th April 2020 related to the registration on the new STR Submission system (goAML), the FIAU understands that the current situation related to COVID-19 is effecting the ability of a number of subject persons to respond in a timely manner and is therefore extending the deadline to Wednesday 13th May 2020.

- CBM Media Release: Six-month moratorium on loan repayments
13th April, 2020
The Minister responsible for public health, with the concurrence of and in consultation with the Minister for Finance and Financial Services, issued the Moratorium on Credit Facilities Regulations in Exceptional Circumstances through Legal Notice 142 of 2020. Credit and financial institutions licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority have been directed by these Regulations to offer a six-month moratorium on repayments on capital and interest for borrowers who have been negatively affected by COVID-19.

- Update from MBR: Persistence of Coronavirus on Paper surfaces
2nd April, 2020
Following the advice by the National Health Authorities based on recommendations by WHO and ECDC, MBR will start processing paper format on the first working day after 72 hours from receipt of such document.

- The Central Bank of Malta issues a new Directive
25th March, 2020
Following the advice of national health authorities for persons to remain indoors as much as possible, the Central Bank of Malta has today issued a Directive on important measures concerning cheques which will primarily enable persons to avoid visiting bank branches and other financial service providers, by depositing them through trusted third parties.

- MBR Notice on Penalties and COVID-19

The Malta Business Registry announces that if a company is effected by the COVID-19 situation, and the filing of the annual return and/or financial statements falls within the period of 23 March 2020 and 31 May.2020, the relevant penalties on late filings of annual return and financial statements are not going to be imposed if these are filed with the Registrar by 31 July 2020.

- MFSA Notification about Interim Measures for the Processing of Physical Documentation

As part of its contingency planning for COVID-19, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) would hereby like to notify all persons and entities that are licenced, registered, enrolled, recognised or authorised in any other form by the MFSA, as well as applicants and prospective applicants, that, with immediate effect, for an interim period and until otherwise communicated, all documentation to be submitted to the MFSA should be sent electronically.

- MFSA Circular: Timing of regulatory reporting due to the outbreak of COVID-19
