Webinar description

IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts is applicable for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2023, and replaces the current accounting standard on insurance contracts, IFRS 4.  The implementation of IFRS 17 represents a major challenge for the insurance industry, as it introduces new measurement models and accounting principles, which fundamentally change existing accounting and reporting practices.


This course covers what brought about the need for IFRS 17, the scope of the accounting standard, the key changes from IFRS 4, the accounting and measurement models, as well as the main requirements for transition and disclosure in the financial statements.

Mark is an audit Director at Deloitte within the Financial Services Practice, specialising in the insurance industry. His experience includes servicing a number of insurance audit clients that operate in the life and general insurance industry, both locally and cross border, and through PCC structures. He provides ongoing training support on insurance-related matters. Mark also services other financial services clients such as collective investment schemes, investment management companies, pension administrators and pension schemes.


Mark is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Practicing Certificate in Auditing.
