The MFSA’s newly published CSP Rulebook establishes a new regulatory framework for persons providing CSP services, which include acting as director or company secretary. This is a new environment, and requires all CSPs, including directors, to seek a licence from the MFSA.
The Rulebook came into effect immediately it was published, which gives any practitioner who needs to obtain a license a two month window within which to apply. This does not mean every CSP: those who are already registered with the MFSA under the outgoing framework will automatically be granted an authorisation under the CSP Act, and they should shortly be contacted by the Authority in relation to their class categorisation.
